Stress AnalysisIt is possible to generate temperature differences not only outside but also directly inside the test object: the effect of thermo-elasticity is based on the fact, that the temperature change is proportional to the trace of the stress tensor, and hence to the sum of the principal stresses. This effect can therefore be used for the analysis of stress fields.

The thermographic detail image shows the stress peaks in the curvature. The measuring field corresponds to the red-framed area in the FEM-simulation. |
